Event Description

Mar. 1, 2018 - Immerse yourself in the beauty and spirit of Prairiewoods, captured in paintings and photographs by Joni Reed Cooley! All of the paintings were inspired by scenes and wildlife at Prairiewoods and were created while Joni served as Prairiewoods’ Artist in Residence from 2015–2017. Now is your chance to see these beautiful works of art in person! Join the artist at Prairiewoods (120 East Boyson Road in Hiawatha) for a reception featuring Joni’s beautiful pastel paintings, to hear stories of her spiritual and artistic growth, and to learn more about our arts programming. The reception will feature more than 20 of Joni’s pastel paintings and nearly 30 of her photographs, all depicting popular features at Prairiewoods. As the outgoing Artist in Residence, Joni is donating nine of her most iconic paintings to become part of Prairiewoods’ art collection. Don’t miss this chance to see her whole Prairiewoods collection in one space! This event is open to the public, and light refreshments will be served. The reception runs from 5–6:30, with an Artist’s Talk at 5:40 p.m. The reception also is an opportunity to support arts programming at Prairiewoods, including the Artist in Residence.
