Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)

Event Description

Mar. 6, 2018 - Mindfulness is the power of mind to be deeply aware of what's happening—without commentary or interference. Research reveals numerous benefits to the nervous system, emotions and general sense of well-being. In the eight-week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program at Prairiewoods (120 East Boyson Road in Hiawatha), you will cultivate the skill of mindfulness through formal meditation practices and informal integrative practices. Facilitator Chris Klug, a grief counselor and mindfulness teacher, has been an instructor in the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction program at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics since 2001. This series is co-sponsored by Prairiewoods and Cedar Memorial. It consists of a two-and-a-half-hour class each week for eight weeks (Tuesday afternoons or evenings from March 20–May 8) and one extended six-and-a-half-hour Saturday class (April 21). If you want to participate in this eight-week series, please attend the information session on Feb. 27 or March 6. The information session is free, but the eight-week series costs $400. (Partial scholarships are available through Cedar Memorial.) For more information or to register for an information session, contact Prairiewoods at www.Prairiewoods.org or 319-395-6700.
